Intensification of pre-treatment and fractionation of agricultural residues

Abstract Lignocellulose biomass is a unique renewable and sustainable source that can be used in energy generation, production of transport fuels chemical industries to replace petroleum-based resources. However, due its recalcitrance enzyme breakdown, it needs pre-treated prior processing. In this study, ultrasound assisted ozone was pre-treat the agricultural processing residues corn cob spelt husk. Following organosolv fractionation, about 90 % 94 lignin with high purity (95 %) were recovered for husk guaiacyl-syringyl major fraction from guaiacyl respectively. addition, cellulose pulp 83.6 85.2 78 respectively 19 decrease crystallinity 17 degree polymerization (DP). Thus, improved quality separation components will enhance downstream conversion value added products thereby improving sustainability cost effectiveness process.
